Counter Measure for Congestion in TCP/IP using Bandwidth Estimation

چکیده
The main reason for network congestion is using TCP/IP protocol for transmission. In this paper, the technique called bandwidth estimation is used to avoid congestion in the network which uses TCP/IP protocol mechanism. It finds out the equilibrium point of the window and then the size of the window is adjusted in a round trip time. Initially the TCP and Active Queue Management technique is discussed on congestion avoidance. Then with the bandwidth estimation technique congestion control is achieved, and it is proved to be better than TCP Vegas both in the homogeneous and heterogeneous systems.

Bandwidth Estimation for TCP Sources and Its Application
In this paper, we propose a novel bandwidth estimation algorithm for TCP connections and its possible application to congestion control mechanism. The estimation algorithm relies upon an analytic relation which expresses the connections’ available bandwidth as a function of the inter-departure time of packets and of the inter-arrival time of ACKs. It is worth noticing that this approach can be ...

Today TCP/IP congestion control implements the additive increase/multiplicative decrease (AIMD) paradigm to probe network capacity and obtain a “rough” but robust measurement of the best effort available bandwidth. Westwood TCP proposes an additive increase/adaptive decrease paradigm that adaptively sets the transmission rate at the end of the probing phase to match the bandwidth used at the ti...
متن کاملTCP-Load Balancing: The Aequitas Equilibrium
We consider the problem of traffic allocation in multipath IP networks. We postulate that the desired equilibrium distribution of network bandwidth is one where every flow acquires a TCP-fair share along each of the routes connecting its ingress and egress. This characterization calls for connection striping at the ingress to balance the load among the available routes. Still, the desired equil...
متن کاملEnhanced bandwidth estimation algorithms in the TCP congestion control scheme
The use of enhanced bandwidth estimation procedures within the congestion control scheme of TCP has been recently proposed as a way to improve the performance over links affected by random losses. In this paper we propose TIBET (Time Intervals based Bandwidth Estimation Technique), a new bandwidth estimation scheme that can be implemented within the TCP congestion control procedure by modifying...
